Have you been transformed?

Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Have you allowed the Holy Spirit to transform your life? Have you “sold out” and given everything over to the Lord? Are you determined to follow Him and do His will with your life? The standards in God’s Word are high…God calls us to be a people separated from this world.

In this verse, Paul tells us that we are not to be conformed to this world but rather we are to be transformed. This transformation starts with the renewing of our minds or hearts. I really like how the translators for the New Living Translation translated this verse:

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is” (Romans 12:2).

Are you copying the behaviors and customs of this world? Jesus said we cannot serve God and mammon or the things of this world (Matthew 6:24). We must focus our devotion and loyalty on serving God and not let this world with all of its “things” distract us. We are called to be separated from this world. The standard is given in God’s Word and it is an absolute standard:

“And what agreement does God’s sanctuary have with idols? For we are the sanctuary of the living God, as God said: I will dwell among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people. (17) Therefore, come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord; do not touch any unclean thing, and I will welcome you. (18) I will be a Father to you, and you will be sons and daughters to Me, says the Lord Almighty” (2 Corinthians 6:16-18 HCSB).
